Unified Payments Interface is an instant real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India. The interface facilitates inter-bank peer-to-peer and person-to-merchant transactions. UPI is powered by Immediate Payment Service.
Your UPI PIN is the number you enter whenever you make a transaction or add a new payment account.
You’ll be asked to set a UPI PIN when you first add a bank account. If you already have a UPI PIN for your bank account, you can use the same UPI PIN on any Payments app.
When you pay through UPI you have to approve it with your UPI PIN. But recently I found a GPay error where it shows “Exceed maximum Resisteration attempts in GPay“
What is the reason behind the Exceed Maximum Registration Attempts error in GPay?
Well, this issue appears when you enter your UPI PIN wrong continuously three times. After that, whether you type a correct number or a wrong you will get this issue. So keep reading for the solutions to this error.
Fix: Exceed Maximum Registration Attempts in GPay
1. Wait 24 hours
When you enter the wrong UPI PIN 3 times continuously then you have two options you can reset your PIN or wait 24 hours to make your next transaction. You can’t send or receive money during this time.
2. Reset UPI PIN
When you exceed the maximum attempts of entering a UPI PIN then in this case you cannot approve payment from your account. So you have to set a new UPI PIN and your problem will be resolved.
How to Reset your UPI PIN
- Open the Google Pay app.
- At the top right, tap your photo (Profile).
- Tap Bank account.
- Tap the bank account you want to edit.
- Tap Forgot UPI PIN.
- Enter the last 6 digits of your debit card number and the expiry date.
- Create a new UPI PIN and remember it.
- Enter the OTP you get by SMS.
Apart from the Google Pay app, Exceeded maximum attempts of entering UPI PIN can be observed in Airtel, Axis, Yono SBI, BHIM, Kotak, Canara, IDBI, IndusInd, Bank of Baroda, IOB, KVB, GCash, Paytm, PhonePe, Mobikwik, app, etc.
If you observe the same issue in these apps then to solve this issue you just have to Reset the mPIN that’s it you don’t have to do any other solution to solve this problem.
What is meant by exceeded maximum registration attempts?
It means that you have reached the attempts to log in to your account, this issue appears when you enter your UPI PIN wrong continuously three times. After that, whether you type a correct number or a wrong you will see this message.
How do I Reset my UPI pin after max attempts?
Steps to Reset your UPI Pin:
In the GPay App, tap your photo (Profile).
Tap Bank account.
Tap the bank account you want to edit.
Tap Forgot UPI PIN.
Enter the last 6 digits of your debit card number and the expiry date.
Create a new UPI PIN and remember it. Done!
Why is UPI blocked for 24 hours?
Because of security concerns, UPI gets blocked for 24 hours. Blocking may be due to wrong UPI pin attempts to avoid any fraudulent transactions.
