sitemap can be read but has errors 1

A site map is a list of pages of a website within a domain. There are three primary kinds of site maps: Site maps used during the planning of a Web site by its designers. Human-visible listings, typically hierarchical, of the pages on a site. Structured listings intended for web crawlers such as search engines.

Recently one of the viewers asked for help for a Google Search Console error where it was saying Sitemap can be read, but has errors. It means Google is able to read your sitemap it is working fine but the sitemap has some errors in it.

In past, I was getting the same error on some sites that’s why I was not new to this issue and already knew the solution to this error. So in this post, I am going to share that solution with you.

Solution To “sitemap can be read, but has errors”

There may be a few reasons behind this error. So go one by one and apply them t your site and your error will be solved and your sitemap will be accepted by google.

1. 404 Error

When Google tried to fetch your sitemap it cannot connect to your sitemap, that’s because your host cant provide the speed or you may be working on something at the same time when google crawler came. Another reason may be your sitemap doesn’t include some important sitemap URL, so you should include it.

In this case, you just make sure your hosting/ servers are working fine and you have to resubmit your site’s Sitemap. After that Google may automatically crawl your Sitemap within 24 hours.

2. Sitemap Errors

Your sitemap includes a map to all of your site including your posts, pages, Author, images, etc but sometimes you may have the wrong URLs in it by accident.

To solve this if you are using Blogger then I recommend using the Mysitemap generator site. You will get all instructions to create the right fetchable sitemap. You can check your sitemap by adding sitemap.xml for example https://www.indiantechhunter.in/sitemap.xml.

If you are using WordPress then just try to install Rankmath or Yoast Seo Plugin and follow the instructions there it will automatically create the best Sitemap design for you.

3. HTTP 403 error

HTTP 403 error is quite irritating as it is hard to resolve and there is very less solution available on the internet. 403 forbidden error when you visit an empty website directory or a specific page that has a permission error. This is because most websites are set up to disallow directory browsing to prevent attackers from accessing sensitive files.

These types of errors are mostly temporary and can be solved easily by allowing permission in the Robots.txt file of your site. You can edit your robots.txt file in blogger and WordPress easily. When you do this be sure to check everything is correct. To check an example you go to our site’s Robots.txt file and check what it should have.
