Vi message not sent

One of my friends asked:

Why I am not able to send text messages from my Vi Sim? Whenever I send text messages and close the app. After sometime it say “Message sending failed” so when I checked, message wasn’t sent and it was having a red refresh button before it and when I tap it, it does not work? Currently it is happening with me persistantly! What’s the solution for this?

Text messages are one of the oldest forms of communication. But still, text messaging is a secure and reliable method for verification and communication.

Even though the messaging features can work very well even in weak network connections, sometimes the messaging feature doesn’t work properly.

Although text messaging is very good for communication, sometimes it may give you errors related to sending text messages. So, to fix the issue that the text message failed to send from VI (Vodafone, Idea) sim you can try the tips listed below in the article. If you are not receiving sms messages on Vodafone idea then there few different solutions so read that post for fixes.

So to solve this problem permanently I called Vi Customer care service and they said to recharge my sim with any amount that can activate the Validity of the sim. Hence you have to just recharge your number with the correct amount and your Vi Sms Not Sending problem will be solved.

Sometimes clearing cache and force stop may not work if your phone has internal misconfiguration thus to solve this error just simply restart your smartphone.

6. Change Vi SMS Center Number on Android & iOS

An SMSC number is responsible for handling the SMS operations of a wireless network. When an SMS message is sent from a mobile phone, it will reach an SMS center first. The SMS center then forwards the SMS message to the destination.

Thus if you have set the wrong SMSC number then you will get of SMS not sent. thus to solve this error you should Update your SMSC number.

There is a different procedures for Android and iOS so follow them according to your device system.

  1. Dial – *#*#4636#*#* on Keypad.
  2. It will automatically open the ‘Testing’ settings. Now if you have two sims in your android phone then choose accordingly. In my case, I opened ‘Phone information1’.
  3. Now scroll down and try to find the ‘SMSC’ option and type your network operator’s SMSC number of your area and tap Update. I am from Maharashtra that’s why I typed Maharashtra’s SMSC number.

  1. Why Vi SMS is not working? | Why outgoing SMS is not working in Vi?

Most probably the reason behind Vi’s SMS not working is a Validity issue on your Vi. Try to recharge your phone which activates validity. Another cause of this issue is a smartphone bug which can be solved by restarting your phone.

  2. Can I send an SMS with a 10 RS recharge using Vi Sim?

It does not matter which recharge you actually do on your Vi sim, to send SMS you should have active validity to send SMS. To activate validity on your Vi sim, check which is the best option available now, which can activate validity of your Vi sim.

  3. How do I enable my outgoing SMS on Vi?

You will have to activate your Service Validity. To activate validity on your Vi sim currently, 19Rs recharge is the cheapest option where you get 1-day validity. On various recharge packs, you don’t get any SMS sending quota, in those cases, you will have to send an SMS using your talktime balance.

  4. What is the minimum recharge for Vi to send SMS?

While writing this article I found, a 99 Rs recharge is the minimum option you get, with a validity of about 28 days but you don’t get any SMS sending quota. You will have to send an SMS using your Talktime balance. If you find a better option let us know in the comment section.

  5. How do I activate my SMS center number on Vi sim?

Dial – *#*#4636#*#* on Keypad. In my case, I opened ‘Phone information1’. and scrolled down to refresh and change the SMSC number. To know your area SMSC you can visit our dedicated article on SMSC center of vi sim.

  6. Does 19 RS recharge add Service validity On Vi Sim?

No, currently 19Rs plan only gives you the benefit of 1GB usage for days and doesn’t give you any ability to send or receive SMS. Also, you won’t be able to make and receive calls on your Vi sim.

In conclusion, I can give you an additional solution if it’s urgent. You can insert your Vi sim card into the feature phone and you can use that to send SMS easily. Surprisingly it works for many peoples.

  1. I tried with above all methods but nothing is working. My phone pay and GPay mobile verifications are pending because of the message sending problem automatically. Can anyone help me please? Also called customer care and they gave me the message centre number even though it’s not working.

    • Try removing your sim cards and inserting them into the feature phone.

Feature phones are the best way to solve such problems nowadays.

Also if you getting issues while adding your bank account and
many related problems in the GPay and PhonePe then do check our posts related to Gapy and PhonePe we have covered posts related to problems using them.

  2. I did a top-up recharge of Rs.10/- but my sms could not be sent by my bank’s mobile app for verification of my mobile number and device. It kept on saying message not sent / mobile number not formatted correctly. When I called VI customer care I was told by one Mr Ashish that the MSG ‘won’t go’. As my current plan does not support sms nor does the Rs.10 recharge support sms and that I should do a recharge of Rs.128 or Rs.129 to avail this facility of sms. I told him this is ridiculous. Just to send one sms why should I be forced to recharge with RS.128 or 129. I asked to speak to his supervisor to register my complaint / escalate this matter. But he kept on saying no one is available. But I insisted that he should at least try and connect me to his superior, whereupon he disconnected the call.

Ques to #PMO How can I be part of New / Digital India when because of such restrictive, unfair trade practices I am not able to even verify my device and mob.no.?

#TRAI needs to look into this restrictive and unfair trade practice of #VI #VodafoneIdea.

    • Vodafone Idea store is waiting for customers to come so that they could be converted to a postpaid plan. In spite of valid plans, and valid documents, they are not willing to give any service. I suspect, they intentionally stop sms service so that customers fall into a problem and easily prey to their postpaid plan.

    • Hii this is site Admin we have shared all possible solutions that will work in every other situation, so we insist you follow all solutions genuinely your problem will be solved.

If you are unable to solve this issue then do go to the nearest Vi customer care store in your city they will help you out.

  3. I can’t believe, so many users reported this problem. But .. but .. but .. nobody here says this ..
.. SMS sending was never ever an issue for me until one day last week. It stopped all of a sudden. Without giving me any explanation.
I believe, the best way out of this is this ..
    1. Find a feature phone, and move the sim card to it. (I have not tried it yet for a reason)
    2. Then port the number to airtel or jio. Because to port, you will need to send an sms.
    3. Or instead of 2 .. visit the dealer of airtel or jio .. and tell him about this.

Wake up the dead pranab mukherjee from his grave and ask the idiot to impose another retrospective tax on all phone companies. The bloody saffron party gave him a bharat ratna. God (Ram) only knows why.

  4. I faced this issue with Vodafone SIM on Android 7 Xiaomi MiMax. At the same time there was no problem with Jio SIM on the same mobile, or the same Vodafone SIM on a different mobile. Unfortunately the steps in this article did not help solve the issue. But what helped in my case was disabling VoLTE – there seems to be a incompatibility between VoLTE and SMS sending with Vodafone SIM, on some mobiles/Android versions.
